Internship Program

The predoctoral internship at the Lexington VA Medical Center in Kentucky is fully accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of the American Psychological Association. The next site visit will be during the academic year 2011.

The Lexington Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center consists of two divisions. The Leestown Division houses the Mental Health Clinic, the Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder Clinical Team (PCT), the Outpatient Substance Abuse Treatment Program (SATP), the inpatient PTSD treatment program (PRRP), the inpatient substance abuse program (SARRTP), and the Community Living Center. The Cooper Drive Division provides general medical, surgical, neurological, and acute inpatient psychiatric services.

Twelve psychologists are involved in providing interns with generalist training. Therapy and assessment didactics are offered on a weekly basis to provide continuous training on a variety of different topics. The program funds two interns on a full-time basis.
