Internship Program

The predoctoral internship at the West Los Angeles VA Healthcare Center is fully accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of the American Psychological Association. The next site visit will be during the academic year 2010.

Applications for full-time internship positions in psychology will be accepted from students who are enrolled in doctoral programs in clinical or counseling psychology that are accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of the American Psychological Association. The training program is funded to support 7 full-time internship positions, three of which are designated for trainees who will spend six months on rotations in Geropsychology.

Postdoctoral Fellowship Program

The postdoctoral fellowship at the West Los Angeles VA Healthcare Center is not yet accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of the American Psychological Association. An application for accreditation is in process, and a site visit is expected by 2010.

We are seeking applicants with strong skills in general assessment, intervention, and clinical research, with specific interests and training in their chosen emphasis area. Three full-time positions are available for the 2010-11 training year: Geropsychology-Neuropsychology (2 year program); Polytrauma Psychology (2 year program); Serious Mental Illness (1 year program). Applicants should have completed an APA-accredited internship program and APA-accredited doctoral program in clinical or counseling psychology.

Our selection criteria focus on background training and experience and the ability of the applicant to articulate training goals and professional aspirations that we feel are consistent with the VA mission. We seek the best fit between applicants and our training program.
