Internship In Health Service Psychology

The GVSMVAMC internship in Health Service Psychology provides interns with the clinical and leadership skills that will enable them to be competitive health service psychologists and program managers. Our program is based on the scientist-practitioner model emphasizing grounded theory and practice of cognitive-behavioral assessment and therapy. Due to the unique population we serve, training in cultural and individual diversity is an essential component of our program. We encourage applicants who are passionate about working with underserved populations, particularly African-American or rural populations, to apply for our program.

Historically, our program was part of the University of Mississippi Medical Center/VAMC consortium. This partnership ended on July 30, 2017. the GVSMVAMC Internship in Health Service Psychology was able to maintain its status as an APA accredited program as it transitioned during the dissolution of the consortium and move to Standards or Accreditation. Our program recently submitted a self-study in preparation for a 2018 site visit.  Please see the program brochure for additional program, application, and eligibility information.
